Look Inside

The first part of this book provides an overview of sheep breeds, why they are kept (milk, hides, fine wool, coarse wool, meat), and the husbandry practices involved in caring for different breeds. The second, and by far largest part of the book, is an encyclopedia of significant breeds. It reviews 198 different breeds and five different species. While there are actually over 10,000 different breeds, most today are obscure or rare. The breeds covered here include all of the more important breeds, as well as some less important ones. As such; it gives you a very sound understanding of the diversity that can be found across sheep breeds; and a basis upon which to make an intelligent selection when attempting to decide on a breed to raise.
