Play – It’s Every Child’s Right

Playday takes place on the 6th August every year in the UK. It is a celebration of the child’s right to play.  This year, the theme is Spaces for Play.

It is important that children have inclusive and accessible places where they can play freely, where they can spend time and see their friends in safety.

It’s not just young children though, spending playing is also important for older children and teens.

Children can play everywhere and anywhere. They are usually imaginative and innovative in their play. Play also plays an important part in the development of a child. For example, learning how to act in certain situations, taking turns, creating, using their fine and gross motor skills etc.

So places for children to play are essential for their development and emotional and physical wellbeing.
