Trees Social Distance Distance Too

It’s not just humans who are having to social distance at the moment. This is something that trees have been doing for hundreds of years, for the same reasons, to protect themselves.  We might be trying to protect ourselves from the dreaded COVID-19 and its variants, but trees are thought to stay a distance from each other to prevent the spread of leaf eating insect larvae.

Blogging is something that has grown substantially in recent years. With the current global situation, COVID-19, never mind other changes around the world, many people are choosing to share their experiences with others through blogging.

A blog is an online diary for some, as a way of sharing their experiences and thoughts. 

 

The UK Government recently announced that they are cutting funding for over 5000 further education courses due to poor attendance numbers. You could think that these courses are being cut because they are niche courses, but they include courses such as hair dressing, agriculture, horticulture, performing arts, cooking and horse care. In the modern world, we still need the people who are able to grow our crops and tend to our plants. We still need people who are knowledgeable about animals and their care.

 
As another private college goes bust in the UK, the lecturers union blame the “marketisation of education” and warned that funding is a free for all amongst private providers. However, ACS Distance Education Principal, John Mason, warns that the problems in education are far more complex than that.
